## What we checked on E-Renter

### What a screening holds and costs

**Reports included** · Yes — All three packages carry SSN validation, OFAC, evictions, bankruptcies, liens, judgments, criminal and sex-offender searches; credit is added on Premium and Ultimate, and individual landlords get a pass/fail against their own criteria rather than the full report or score. No consumer reporting agency or bureau partner is named anywhere on the site.

> Depending on the level of report you choose, an E-Renter Tenant Background Check includes information about: Bankruptcies Evictions Criminal records Sex offender records Social Security Number Validation OFAC/Patriot Searches

**Price of a screening** · Yes — Three per-applicant packages are published: Basic at $21.95 background only, Premium at $31.95 and Ultimate at $36.95, the latter two adding $2.49 the tenant pays for credit verification. A rerun of part of a report after an information change costs $9.95 more.

> Basic –$21.95 … Ultimate – $36.95 … Premium – $31.95 … Additional $2.49 paid by tenant for credit check verification.

**Who pays for screening** · Partly — The landlord buys and pays for the package itself, but the applicant is billed a separate verification fee by card before the credit check runs, so the cost is split rather than falling on one side. The vendor gives no option to pass the whole package price to the applicant.

> Step 3: Tenant Confirmation and Payment of $1.99 Fee (Only if ordering credit check) … Pay $1.99 with credit card or debit card (with Visa or MasterCard logo).
> — https://www.e-renter.com/services/process/ · How It Works, Step 3, checked 27 October 2026

**How fast the reports come** · Yes — Background reports come back within one hour during Pacific business hours and same day outside them, while the credit check appears immediately once the applicant has confirmed and paid online, so the credit half depends on the tenant acting.

> E-Renter offers one-hour service during our business hours (Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm Pacific time). Evenings and weekends, we provide same-day service for all reports other than the Tenant Credit Check.

### Ordering and getting help

**Free to the landlord** · No — Opening the account is free and there is no membership or monthly charge, but the landlord pays for every report ordered; only the small credit-verification fee is charged to the applicant, so there is no applicant-pays route to a free screening.

> No. E-Renter has no membership fee, no registration fee, and no monthly or yearly fees. You pay only for the reports you order.
> — https://www.e-renter.com/faq/ · FAQ, 'Get Started' — 'Is there a membership fee when I sign up for your service?', checked 27 October 2026

**Order without a sales call** · Partly — An individual landlord signs up online and orders without any on-site inspection, but a property manager wanting full credit reports must qualify for a commercial account, meeting business-licence and office requirements and passing an inspection.

> To qualify for a Commercial Account you must meet the requirements listed below, and have an on-site inspection: Your business must include tenant screening activities You must have a business license
